The purpose of this research was to study the effects of thidiazuron (TDZ) on shoot multiplication and gibberellic acid (GA3) on shoot elongation of Phanera sirindhorniae (K. Larsen & S.S. Larsen) Mackinder & R. Clark conducted from cotyledonary nodes. The explants were cultured on MS media containing 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8 and 1 μM TDZ for four weeks. The results showed that there was statistically significant difference in the concentrations of TDZ affecting the average number and length of shoots. TDZ (0.8 μM) provided the highest average number of shoots (5.1 ± 2.3 shoots/explant). However, cultured shoots were too short; therefore, stimulation of shoot elongation with GA3 was carried on by culturing cotyledonary nodes on MS media containing 0–20 μM GAwith 0.8 μM TDZ for four weeks. The results showed that the length of shoots was found to increase with increasing concentrations of GA3, but there was no signifi cant difference among treatments. However, 20 μM GAtended to give the highest average length of shoots (1.94 ± 1.3 cm).
