กว๊านพะเยาเป็นบึงนํ้าจืดขนาดใหญ่ซึ่งเกิดจากการสร้างทำนบกั้นลำนํ้าอิงไว้มีความหลากหลายของพืชนํ้าที่มีความสำคัญต่อระบบนิเวศนํ้าและชุมชนโดยรอบการศึกษาความหลากชนิดของพืชนํ้าในกว๊านพะเยามีเป้าหมายเพื่อรวบรวมข้อมูลพืชนํ้าที่พบในพื้นที่มาระบุชนิดรวมถึงสร้างเป็นฐานข้อมูลพืช โดยสำรวจ เก็บตัวอย่าง และถ่ายภาพพรรณไม้นํ้าจากภาคสนามในระหว่างเดือนตุลาคม พ.ศ. 2562 ถึงเดือนมีนาคม พ.ศ. 2564 บันทึกข้อมูลนิเวศวิทยา ช่วงการมีดอก และผลและระบุสถานภาพการอนุรักษ์ของพืช จัดทำตัวอย่างพรรณไม้แห้งเก็บไว้ที่พิพิธภัณฑ์พืชคณะวิทยาศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยพะเยา ตรวจสอบชื่อวิทยาศาสตร์ และสร้างรูปวิธานระบุชนิด ผลการศึกษาพบพืชนํ้าทั้งหมดจำนวน 22 วงศ์ 35 สกุล 44 ชนิด จำแนกเป็นเฟิร์นน้ำ พืช basal angiosperms กลุ่มพืชใบเลี้ยงเดี่ยว กลุ่มพืชใก้ลเคียงพืชใบเลี้ยงคู่ที่แท้จริงและกลุ่มพืชใบเลี้ยงคู่ที่แท้จริง โดยพบประเภทพืชชายนํ้ามีจำนวนมากที่สุดรองลงมาเป็นพืชกึ่งเหนือนํ้าพืชลอยนํ้า และพืชใต้นํ้า พืชนํ้าส่วนใหญ่มีสถานภาพมีความกังวลน้อยที่สุดต่อการสูญพันธุ์อย่างไรก็ตามมีพืชนํ้าที่มีการรายงานเป็นพืชต่างถิ่นรุกรานในพื้นที่ป่าอนุรักษ์จำนวน 8 ชนิด การศึกษาครั้งนี้ได้สร้างรูปวิธานระบุชนิดของพืชนํ้าในกว๊านพะเยา

Kwan Phayao isa large freshwater lake forming by blocking of the Ing River. It contains a high diversity of aquatic plants which are important to the ecosystem and community around the lake. This study aims to gather the information of aquatic plants in Kwan Phayao for providing the taxonomic identification and plant database. The plant samples were observed and collected from October 2019 to March 2021. Ecological data, flowering period and conservation status of all species were provided. Voucher specimens were made and deposited at the herbarium, School of Science, University of Phayao. Plant identification and key to the species were conducted. The results revealed that 22 families, 35 genera and 44 species of aquatic plants in Kwan Phayao were recognised which were classified as waterferns, basal angiosperms, monocots, probable sister of eudicots and eudicots. The marginal plants were mostly found in the area followed by emerged, floating and submerged plants. Most species were rated as Least Concern (LC); however, eight species were also recognised as invasivespecies in the protected area. A key to the species of aquatic plants in Kwan Phayao was constructed.
